Julie, from Owen County Schools in Kentucky, recently entered our Free Flash Drive Contest and shared how she would use the 1 Gb flash drives if she was selected as the winner:
I work in our county’s middle and high schools. My office is the Youth Services Center. We serve students who may need assistance with basic needs. Our goal is to remove non-educational barriers to learning.
One issue that we encounter is students not being able to complete assignments because they have no way to save their work from the computer and take it with them to the public library to finish after school hours. Many students can easily afford to purchase a jump drive, while others struggle just to have enough food. For those students, purchasing a jump drive is not an option. This leads to some students being unable to complete assignments. Their grades suffer, and eventually they may struggle to even have enough credits to graduate.
Something as simple as a jump drive can make a world of difference to our students. We work with these students regularly, so we would be able to see which students need a jump drive. We would give the jump drives to these students to help them succeed in school, with a goal of graduation.
Thanks, Julie!
If you would also like to enter our monthly drawing, just swing over to our contest website, FreeFlashDrives.net, and write a 150 word essay describing what your group would do with the drives if you won. It’s a great way to earn some free publicity for your group too!
