Every aspect of being an Emergency Medical Technician requires an ability to work with all deliberate speed. EMTs must have the focus and wherewithal to drive quickly to the scene of an emergency, rapidly assess the victims’ condition, and do everything possible and necessary to treat them. Whether victims require bandaging, medication, stabilization, or other emergency medical attention, EMTs must record the patients’ problems and what treatment was given.

Technology has certainly enhanced an EMT’s capacity for faster work. He or she can deliver information instantly to the hospital via computer or smartphone so hospital personnel are prepared for the patients when they arrive. This saves paper work and is, overall, more efficient.
Many EMTs carry netbooks – small laptops which don’t take up a lot of space but enable easy, on-site data recording. This data is then typically transferred to the hospital or dispatch station via a USB flash drive, further simplifying the transportation and storage of important data.
CFgear offers a variety of flash drives from which to choose, with a diverse assortment of styles and materials. EMTs would likely find a flash drive with a key chain attachment useful; it could easily and securely be kept on his or her belt. CFgear’s metal USB drives are extremely durable for when an EMT might bump or scratch the drive during the course of an emergency response.
Medical forms can be kept on an EMT flash drive for easy access, with plenty of data space remaining for any other information which needs to be transferred to other computers. Using the patented Pulse technology developed by CFgear, data can safely and accurately preloaded onto the drive in a way that saves as much space as possible. CFgear can duplicate information across many flash drives, so every EMT is equipped with any information you deemed essential. Most file formats can be preloaded by CFgear, such as Word and PDF documents.
CFgear offers customized layouts, as well. A layout can be simple to use in a hurry while still keeping data organized, or preloaded with folders for various categories of information. For example, there may be a folder with general emergency response information, another for incident reports, and one for contact numbers and addresses. The flash drive’s data is instantly accessible when plugged into a computer thanks to InstaRun technology.
In a typical case, an EMT can hop into an ambulance with a radio, flashlight, some medical tools, and a customized CFgear USB drive on his or her work belt. After treating the patient, assessing treatment options, and stabilizing the situation, he or she can plug the drive into the on-board computer or netbook to record what just took place while the memory is still fresh. Upon the return to the hospital, the drive can be used by medical personnel to review the notes of the case. The flash drive can also aid police in recording a report of the incident.
CFgear has custom bulk flash drives for all uses, even medical emergencies. Check out our website and call us at 800.371.1984 today.
